Ashaanas is a brand new establishment and is located in the picturesque little town of Clarens, aptly named the “Jewel of the Free State”, and gives the visitor panoramic views on the high sandstone Rooiberge, the Golden Gate area and the Maluti mountains in the far distance from the rooms and the patio area.
The property is within walking distance from the center of town where visitors can browse through the many art galleries, experience excellent restaurants and antique shops. Entrance to the Clarens Village Conservancy with its scenic walking trials is only 200 m away.
Our two self-catering units, Elegance Family Unit and Serenity Couple Unit with build-in fireplace, are fully equipped with modern finishes, and each unit has a well-equipped kitchenette, a small dining area, and an elegant on-suite bathroom. Each room has a wall-mounted smart TV (Stream) and Free Uncapped High Speed WiFi. An additional comfortable room, Simplicity, which is NOT a self catering unit is available on the first floor and has panoramic views over a large area of the town. No food preparation is allowed in the comfortable room.
The family unit can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child (extra tariff for a child older than 7 years), has a double bed, single bed and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. Each bed has an electric blanket/heater. The unit is equipped with a microwave, a mini two-plate stove and oven, large fridge-freezer combination, cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils, pots and pans. The bathroom includes towels, a hairdryer, shampoo, body- and hand wash.
The couple’s unit can accommodate 2 adults, has a double bed, and on-suite bathroom. The bed has an electric blanket/heater. The unit is equipped with a microwave, a mini two-plate stove and oven, small fridge, cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils, pots and pans. The bathroom includes towels, a hairdryer, shampoo, body- and hand wash.
An on-site professional chef is available to serve breakfast or dinner in a separate dining area. (Currently on a four month training)
Facilities on the property include secure under cover parking, enclosed palisade fencing, a fire pit, braai/BBQ, and a Weber braai.
Charcoal and firelighters are available at an additional fee.
To do things and attractions in the area include horse riding, fly fishing, wine tasting, walking trials, mountain biking, bird watching and visiting Golden Gate National Park.
All year round, but especially in autumn when the leaves turn golden brown, the scenery in Clarens is an absolute magnet for artists and photographers. The relaxed village atmosphere and the spectacular views and mild climate makes Clarens an idyllic weekend getaway.
Area Information
Clarens is situated 40 kilometers from Bethlehem in the Eastern Free State and is easily accessible from Gauteng (3.5 hours), Durban (4.75 hours) and Bloemfontein (3 hours).
Ashaanas is 400 meters from the Clarens Town Square, with its many unique are galleries and restaurants that will satisfy every palate. Many quaint shops offer antique furniture, clothing and accessories, delicacies and interior décor. The Clarens Village Conservancy, with easy to more challenging hiking trials or walks, spectacular scenery, the Kloof Dam, is about 200 m from the establishment.
The Lesotho Highlands Water Outfall tunnel outflow is about 8 km to your left from Clarens on the Bethlehem Road.
Lionsrock (57 km) in the Bethlehem area, is a big cat sanctuary established by Four Paws, the global animal welfare organization for animals under direct human influence, which reveals suffering, rescue animals in need and protect them.
Scenic attractions in the vicinity include the Golden Gate National Park (20 km); mountainous Lesotho (42 km to Caledonspoort border post-road to Fouriesburg).
